April Update

Good day blog readers, blog non-readers (what? you can't claim this title anymore).

How is it that it's mid April and we are graced by such beautiful snow. Ouch. I just had to punch myself in the face, that's how much I hate my thoughts sometimes. It's beautiful alright. But it's gotta to end. Ok, now that we've talked about the white elephant in the room, let's move on.

Less than 2 weeks 2 go before we vacate the Niverville “ville”, forgo our loved dwelling, and trade it in for Mike’s parent’s basement in Grunthal. Dark basement. Bless his parents heart for agreeing to this. They have no idea what's coming. It's worse than this storm. Truly we all need your prayers during the next few weeks so that we all learn to adjust to each other. Pray the snow melt so the boys can play outside. This would make the transition smoother!!!

Moving date has been set to April 27th. Yes, we are freaking out inside, but only because we can go freak out outside.

On the Visa front, and probably back too, you may have heard that our Visa application was rejected. We're working hard to rectify what was wrong with the first Visa application, and ask that you pray for wisdom. Pray also that our second application will go quickly and be accepted. We cannot wait to join our team in South Africa, and get away from this snow. We cannot wait for South Africa's June & July rain season without heat in our house. Well ok, that's enough sarcasm for one day.

Closing shop chop chop pronto. Mike is closing shop. He's never been a big shopper anyway. Err, I mean this is the end of his computer business which he named: Mike Fast computers. That was really original. Regardless of the fact that he's not creative, Mike worked really hard at this and we're all so proud of him. The kids will miss terrifying the customers who come to our house by running around naked or by throwing hard toys at them. Who said that home businesses were easy?

These last couple of weeks I have been working on making some small activities for the kids, some using things around the house or cheap things at DOLLORAMA. I kindda have been feeling a tad guilty for how much I've "neglected" them with everything we've had to get done, but honestly I really enjoy the beautiful gift of teaching my children through play. I didn't see that one coming!!! Raphael, being a creature of habit, needs me to convince him to participate in my sometimes crazy learning activities. What a kid. It will be fun to see him grow & explore as I teach him, but I also know he will be a challenge since our personalities are so different. It's hard to teach in a way you don't personally learn. Vincent is a lot more willing to get dirty and I believe we are a lot more alike. He also likes to destroy everything, which is a challenge in and of itself! It will be a lot of trial and error.

Stay tuned as I blog about the good, the bad, the messy, the successful of my experiments with homeschooling/pre-shcooling my beautiful children, now and in South Africa.

#1: Water transfer & color mixing: fine motor skills/color learning

Material needed: Food coloring, water, 3 cups or jars, dropper/large syringe, large container or towel to contain the mess.

Instructions: Put food coloring & water in 2 cups/jars. Leave the other empty. Your child will figure out the rest and learn about color mixing (if they don't already) or just have fun making a CONTROLLED water mess.

#2: Fishing

Material needed: Felt, scissors, hot glue, magnet, rod, pencil/string, quarters/dimes.

Instructions:
I cut our some shapes, added a quarter & a dime & hot glued it all:

Then I put a magnet at the end of my rod. You could use a pen & a string for this. Have a great week!!!!!!!
